Are you a local writer who wants to help promote Prince William and Greater Manassas? At this time, PWL is only accepting pitches for online stories. For print stories, we are seeking writers to cover planned stories based on our 2017 Editorial Calendar. This includes features on broader topics, as well as stories on area restaurants, destinations, nonprofits, artists and events. To be qualified, you must have an understanding of AP Style and journalistic writing—including the ability to identify and contact sources and conduct interviews. If you are not familiar with this style of writing, read this tutorial to get started. (We LOVE essayists for online, it just doesn’t fit our print format.)
We also encourage you to browse our website and familiarize yourself with our publication and style. Then, please complete the form below, submitting three writing samples as attachments, or by linking to your writer site with samples. Writers without published journalistic samples are welcome to create a “mock article” as an example of their knowledge of this style. We pay for articles published in print. At this time, we are unable to pay for articles written for online publication—however, this can be a good medium for newer writers to hone their journalism skills before moving into print.
