Prince William County, Virginia…The Prince William Board of County Supervisors announced Debra D. Andrew as the new Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation Director. Ms. Andrew competed nationally for the highly sought position. She was recommended by the interview panel, which consisted of the County Executive, several senior management staff, a Prince William County Parks and Recreation Commissioner, a Prince William County Schools senior management staff, and a Parks and Recreation Director from another Northern Virginia jurisdiction.
“Ms. Andrew is a proven leader in our community,” said Corey Stewart, Chairman of the Board of County Supervisors. “She has been an integral part of delivering Parks and Recreation services to the families and residents of Prince William County, and will be able to lead this department as we continue meeting the needs and demands of our residents for recreational opportunities.”
“It has been an honor to work and grow professionally in the county over the past 27 years as the County has grown to the vital, progressive community it is today,” said Andrew. “I am excited for the wealth of opportunities that the recent merger of the Park Authority into a County department has provided, and I am eager to lead our team as we provide recreation services to the citizens of this great community.”
Debra Andrew resides in Prince William County. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from Ithaca College, and has spent 27 years with Prince William County Parks & Recreation. Most recently, she has served as Acting Director and as Director of Operations, Planning and Support Services for the Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation.
