Businesses Network, Learn From, NOVA & DC Media Outlets
Prince William, VA – To help members navigate the evolving media landscape, the Prince William Chamber of Commerce reintroduced its “Meet the Media” event. More than 100 business people came out to the Best Western Battlefield Inn last week to meet with dozens of representatives from media outlets covering the Washington, DC Metro area.
“With all the changes to local media, and on a macro level, to how news is delivered, we want our members to have an understanding of the best way to get their stories told,” said Chamber Chairman Bill White. “Meet the Media also enabled us to provide our media contacts with new sources and to create an understanding of their deadlines and requirements.”
Attendees met directly with people from broadcast, online and print media sources, learning the best points of contact and types of stories for sharing their news with each organization.
Rebecca Barnes, Prince William Living‘s Publisher, sat on one of the media panels and shared ways to get stories into their publication. “Businesses have so many great ways to get the word out about their business.” said Barnes, “Prince William Living is happy to help get positive information to our audience: We’ve posted a FAQ and tips on how to do so on our web site: www.pwliving.com under ‘Submit News’.”
The Chamber also gave attendees a media guide with publication and contact information for media outlets across the NOVA/DC region. Online access is available through the Chamber website for a fee. To purchase, call 703-368-6600 or email [email protected]. Comcast Spotlight and Constant Contact were event sponsors, and Custom Designers, Inc. created the “Meet the Media” logo.
