Gainesville, VA – December 4, 2013 – Nando’s Peri-Peri, the Afro-Portuguese restaurant known worldwide for its flame-grilled chicken, is hatching its newest location today in Gainesville. With its fiery Peri-Peri chicken, Nando’s is blazing a trail at the Promenade at Virginia Gateway, the new upscale dining and shopping town center in Prince William County.

“We are excited to fire up our grills at the Promenade and introduce Gainesville to our fresh Peri-Peri flavors,” said Burton Heiss, CEO ofNando’s Peri-Peri USA. “We look forward to sharing the Nando’s experience with a whole new community.”

The newest restaurant in our flock is among the first of dozens of new restaurants and shops opening at the Promenade, located near the intersection of Route 29 and Route 66.

Like all Nando’s, the restaurant features sleek architecture and original South African artwork in a casual, friendly atmosphere. The Gainesville location houses paintings by renowned African artists including Lerato Motau, who learned to sketch and paint as a child growing up in the townships of Soweto, South Africa.

“By designing restaurants that are one-of-a-kind to each neighborhood, we are able to provide our fans with a truly unique experience,” Heiss said.

About Nando’s Peri-Peri
The first Nando’s restaurant opened its doors in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since then, the Nando’s flame has spread to 24 countries on five continents. Nando’s is known worldwide for its succulent Peri-Peri chicken, marinated for 24 hours, flame-grilled to perfection, and basted to the customer’s preferred flavor and spice. It’s equally renowned for its spicy Peri-Peri, the Bird’s Eye chili pepper that indigenous Africans introduced to the Portuguese centuries ago.

Nando’s Peri-Peri made its US debut in 2008 with the opening of its first location on 7th Street in the Chinatown neighborhood in Washington, DC.  With Gainesville, Nando’s Peri-Peri now operates 15 restaurants in and around Washington, including Dupont Circle, The Yards, Silver Spring, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, National Harbor, Baltimore, Annapolis, Waugh Chapel, Arundel Mills, Pentagon Row, Woodbridge and Old Town, Alexandria.
