Petition for Behavioral Hospital at Woodbridge

Contributed by US Health Vest

US HealthVest proposes to establish a new 75-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital to be located in Woodbridge Virginia, a densely populated area within Prince William County.  The proposed facility will offer a full range of acute psychiatric services, including child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric care.

Drawing on US HealthVest’s extensive experience in developing and operating psychiatric hospitals throughout the country, the facility will implement a full range of specialized components including a dedicated emergency care unit, intensive care that will also accept temporary detention orders, partial hospitalization, women-only programs, dual diagnosis programs, detoxification, faith-based programs, behavioral pain management, military member treatment (i.e., PTSD), youth programs including specialized care for youth with developmental disorders, and outpatient treatment.

The treatment team at Behavioral Hospital of Woodbridge will work collaboratively with Prince William and surrounding county clinicians, social service agencies, community service boards, law enforcement units, advocacy organizations, and others to provide high quality evidence-based behavioral health to the residents of Northern Virginia.  This hospital will treat all emergency patients regardless of ability to pay.

About US HealthVest

US HealthVest is led by the same proven management team of Ascend Health Corporation, the largest private hospital provider in the country before its acquisition in 2012.  Ascend Health was established in 2005 by Dr. Richard Kresch and operated nine freestanding behavioral facilities with over 800 beds in five states.  Ascend Health completed 5 de novo startups with great success in Oregon, Utah, Texas and Arizona.   Additionally, Ascend Health owned and operated Schick Shadel Hospital in King County and is familiar with the behavioral healthcare needs of the area.

US HealthVest is an innovative behavioral healthcare firm that has redefined the psychiatric hospital space. De novo strategies and acquisitions of operating facilities with unrealized potential are the core of the US HealthVest business model. Individual facilities offer multiple service lines in order to serve the needs of specific patient population groups.

US HealthVest is able to efficiently develop hospitals due to the experience of this leadership group which has worked with Dr. Richard Kresch in the psychiatric hospital and management arena in three companies for close to twenty years.

Project Funding

US HealthVest is well capitalized and will fund the development of Behavioral Hospital of Woodbridge with cash on hand and no borrowed capital.

High volumes of Prince William County psychiatric patients are being denied admissions to hospitals in Northern Virginia because services are limited.

In the Woodbridge Area – Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is the closest acute care hospital and has no psychiatric beds, but is transferring over 500 psychiatric patients annually to other facilities
