City of Manassas, VA . . . The City of Manassas announces the hiring of a new Finance and Administration Director, Paul E. York. York has been in local government and a finance professional for more than 30 years with a proven track record of managing all areas of finance and administration.
“We are happy to welcome Paul to the City of Manassas family,” said City Manager William Patrick Pate. “We look forward to putting his wealth of experience and financial knowledge to work for thecommunity as part of our senior leadership team.”
York comes to the City after serving as Finance and Administrative Services Director at the City of Beloit, Wisconsin since 2004. Prior to that, York served as the Director of Finance for the Town of Leesburg, Virginia for more than 19 years. Other experience includes being an accounting supervisor with the Town of Blacksburg, an accountant with Appalachian Power Company, and a controller for the City of Huntington.
“I am very excited to be returning to Virginia and joining the staff of the City of Manassas,” said York. “This position is a tremendous opportunity that will allow me to continue my career in local government finance and reconnect with our family in Virginia.”
York has a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from Marshall University in West Virginia. He is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) and a board member on the Wisconsin Government Finance Officers Association. York’s first day with the City of Manassas will be Feb. 10, 2014.
