Prince William Chamber Announces Leadership Transition

On Tuesday, February 18, 2014, the Prince William Chamber Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Robert H. Clapper, II.  Clapper has been tapped to lead a new foundation dedicated to supporting America’s Special Operations Community.   The Board has appointed Deborah L. Jones to serve as the Acting Chief Executive Officer for no longer than six months or until a permanent CEO is selected, whichever is shorter.

“This is a great professional opportunity for Rob.  We are grateful for his service to the Chamber and this community.  We wish him all the best” said Bill White, Chairman of the Prince William Chamber’s Board of Directors.  “Meanwhile the Prince William Chamber is committed to our core mission.  During the next few months, we will be reaching out to our Chamber membership for their feedback and thoughts to guide the future of the Prince William Chamber.”

Debbie Jones began her chamber career in 1990 and has served as the Prince William Chamber’s Chief Operating Officer since July 2011.  She is currently involved in numerous boards in the community including The Center for the Arts, Smart Beginnings, and the Executive Advisory Board for the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia.  In January 2013, she was named to the Board of Trustees for Novant Health.  Debbie is a proud graduate Leadership Prince William Class of 2010 and LEAD VA Class of 2007.  In 2003, she was awarded the Chamber Executive of the Year by the Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.

“While Rob’s leadership will be missed at the Chamber, I am extremely excited for him in his new endeavor, “ said Jones. “At the same time, we have a strong and wonderful organization at the Prince William Chamber.   I look forward to continuing to help our members succeed in their businesses and our community to prosper. ”
