Prince William, VA-Prince William County has been chosen as the host location for the 2015 Quicken Loans National Tournament as announced by the Tiger Woods Foundation yesterday. The Club has previously hosted the President’s Cup a total of four times, with the 1994 inaugural event as well as tournaments in 1996, 2000 and 2005.
“We are thrilled that our destination has been selected. This is a great opportunity to showcase Prince William as a prime destination for golf enthusiasts as well as sporting events and tournaments.” said Ann Marie Maher, President/CEO of Discover Prince William & Manassas. “The economic impact on the region will include increased hotel room night occupancies and growth in the spending of discretionary funds on lodging, food and beverage and regional attractions.”
Discover Prince William & Manassas will assist visitors to the area with trip planning including hotel, attraction, and event and dining options. The Quicken Loans National Tournament welcomed about 150,000 total fans over the six day event with more than 100 golfers when it was held at Congressional Country Club in Montgomery County, MD in 2013.
Discover Prince William & Manassas created its sports tourism task force in 2012 to identify sporting events/tournaments that can take advantage of the diversity of Prince William & Manassas parks, fields and private venues. The group identifies various sporting events and works to help secure and service these events.
