Prince William, VA-Prince William County has been chosen as the host location for the 2015 Quicken Loans National Tournament as announced by the Tiger Woods Foundation yesterday. The tournament will take place at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville. The Club has previously hosted the President’s Cup a total of four times, with the 1994 inaugural event as well as tournaments in 1996, 2000 and 2005.

“We are thrilled that our destination has been selected. This is a great opportunity to showcase Prince William as a prime destination for golf enthusiasts as well as sporting events and tournaments.” said Ann Marie Maher, President/CEO of Discover Prince William & Manassas. “The economic impact on the region will include increased hotel room night occupancies and growth in the spending of discretionary funds on lodging, food and beverage and regional attractions.”

Discover Prince William & Manassas will assist visitors to the area with trip planning including hotel, attraction, and event and dining options. The Quicken Loans National Tournament welcomed about 150,000 total fans over the six day event with more than 100 golfers when it was held at Congressional Country Club in Montgomery County, MD in 2013.

Discover Prince William & Manassas created its sports tourism task force in 2012 to identify sporting events/tournaments that can take advantage of the diversity of Prince William & Manassas parks, fields and private venues. The group identifies various sporting events and works to help secure and service these events. Examples of which include the 2015 World Police and Fire Games, Prince William Soccer’s Annual Ice Breaker Event, the Marine Corps Marathon Event Series, the Junior National Short-Track Speedskating Championships and others.

Just 30 miles from the nation’s capital, Prince William and Manassas is an ideal location for professional tournaments. As one of the fastest growing golf destinations in the South, the county is home to 12 pristine public golf courses with backdrops ranging from the Bull Run Mountains in the west to the Potomac River in the east. Set to open in spring of 2014, Potomac Shores Golf Club is the first public Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in the Washington, D.C. metro area. The par-72, 7,077-yard course has gently rolling terrain accented by pine, oak, maple and hickory trees.
