Manassas, VA – With the Train Depot’s centennial anniversary celebration approaching in June, the timing felt appropriate to update the museum display inside the James & Marion Payne Memorial Railroad Heritage Gallery. In 1997 the historic depot was rehabilitated and turned into a Visitor Center and Museum. The “ticket room” was turned into a gallery, housing historical exhibits on our region’s railway history. After nearly 18 years and over 100,000 visitors, the gallery remains unchanged.
The City of Manassas Museum System and Historic Manassas, Inc. are asking for the community’s help to raise funds for the purchase of deck mounted rails for display signs, graphic design and production of enlarged historic photograph panels and a new display case.
Help us keep the story of our historic railway town available to our local train enthusiasts as well as visitors from around the world. It’s an investment in history!
We’re looking to raise $21,000. Help us reach our target goal, within the 45 days left of our fund drive. Follow the campaign’s progress or make a donation at www.visitmanassas.org/donate.
