Northern Virginia Family Service honored Sidney Dewberry with its Legends of Northern Virginia award on Friday, May 9, 2014, at its Road to Independence Gala. Northern Virginia Family Service held its largest-ever Road to Independence Gala ever on May 9, 2014, raising more than $688,000 in funds to help children and families tackle issues such as hunger and homelessness, Head Start, foster care, gang intervention, health and prescription medication access, and job training and entrepreneurship.
