Gainesville Middle School teacher Amanda Taylor has been named Teacher of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1503. The award recognizes her commitment to the well-being of youth and dedication to community service.
Taylor, a teacher with 14 years of experience, has spent eight years teaching the youth of Prince William County. She is a National Board Certified Teacher who readily shares her knowledge as a mentor to new and aspiring teachers from George Mason and Longwood Universities.
Her spirit to serve is noted by those who know her. She spearheads the Operation Turkey campaign at Gainesville Middle, organizes shoe and clothing drives to support the non-profit organization Soles4Soles, and is involved in an array of activities supporting U.S. servicemen and women. This, coupled with her skills as an educator, has already brought her recognition as the 2014 Middle School Teacher of the Year for Prince William County.
