Art Exhibit Showcases Works from Ingleside Family of Retirement Communities

Provided by Ingleside

Ingleside’s Westminster at Lake Ridge community recently hosted the “Three Sisters Traveling Art Exhibit,” a resident-led art show containing artwork from all three Ingleside communities. This is the first time a show included works from every community and it has been an integral part of the Lake Ridge community.

The resident-led Art on Campus committee produces art shows displayed in the community’s gallery. Ingleside encourages residents to pursue their artistic passions in hopes of discovering an art talent they didn’t know they had. The gallery previously hosted shows consisting of watercolors, pen-and-ink drawings, acrylic and oil paintings, photography, and fabric art created by residents and staff.

“We talked to residents at the other communities,” said resident Helen, a member of the Westminster at Lake Ridge Resident Council. “They all liked the idea. This is our first joint effort, and it has worked out very well.”

Each community – Ingleside at Rock Creek and Ingleside at King Farm, in addition to Westminster at Lake Ridge – provided about 20 pieces of framed art for the show. The traveling exhibit was the brainchild of an Art on Campus member, who suggested that Westminster at Lake Ridge get together with the other communities to celebrate the active, creative life that all three communities share. The art committee members selected works from previous shows at Westminster at Lake Ridge for the traveling exhibit.

It is now on display at Ingleside at Rock Creek, in the heart of the District of Columbia, where it will stay through May.
