Big Things on the Horizon at Community Foundation for Northern Virginia

Provided by Community Foundation for Northern Virginia

We have terrific news to share with you about the phenomenal growth that the Community Foundation has enjoyed during our 2017 fiscal year which we just completed on June 30.  Indeed, we have just marked the most successful year in the Community Foundation’s 39-year history.
Our grant making levels rose to $4.75 million. Our asset base rose to $47 million.  Contributions to the Community Foundation rose to $12 million.  On every dimension of impact and success, we have once again grown to record levels, which is simply fantastic news for our community.  Our mission to grow philanthropy to respond to critical needs and seed innovative solutions has never been more relevant, and the community has never been more responsive to the call.  Thank you to our donors, stakeholders, nonprofits, and constituents.  None of this would have been possible without each and every one of you.
Looking forward to the fall, we are busy preparing for two big events.  On September 14 we will host the next Innovation Breakfast – “High Skill, High Demand, High Wage – Skills Based Education Comes of Age.”  Thank you to Access National Bank for once again sponsoring this signature leadership series.  Click here for tickets and additional information.  And on October 6, we welcome you to attend our annual Raise the Region Gala where we will celebrate the growth of philanthropy in our community, our dedicated partners, and our 2017 Community Leadership Award winners Mark and Brenda Moore. Tickets and sponsorships for the Gala are now also available, so please visit cfnova.org/gala.
In 2018 the Community Foundation will celebrate its 40th anniversary and we are collecting stories to help celebrate that milestone accomplishment.  If you have ever engaged with our Community Foundation in any way (large or small) as a donor, board member, or volunteer, or if you have a story you would like to share with us about the Community Foundation’s history, please contact [email protected].  We’d so appreciate your input!
We are a region of ideas, a wellspring of reinventions and re-imaginations.  A caring lot.  A generous force for good.  At the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, we are infinitely inspired by this community.
