On Thursday, July 6, the ESGR (Employment Support of the Guard and Reserve), a Department of Defense program, presented the Department of Fire & Rescue with the Seven Seals Award in recognition of employer cooperation and support of its employees, current and former Service members, of the National Guard and Reserve.
The Seven Seals Award is the broadest and most inclusive award given and presented by the ESGR in recognition of significant individual or organizational achievement, initiative, or support that promotes and supports the ESGR mission — to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
Since ESGR’s inception, the U.S. has relied heavily on Guard and Reserve Service members for over 40 years. Cooperation and support of employers has enabled the Armed Forces to enhance retention of service members while strengthening national security. “The Department values the dedication and sacrifice of its members, and all Service members, who depart the comforts of their home to answer the call of duty to protect our country, our citizens and our freedoms,” states Chief McGee, “while acknowledging the 4500+ men and women, an All-Volunteer Force, who, daily, support our military service members and their families via ESGR’s mission. It is an honor and privilege to be a part of the ESGR program and the recipient of the prestigious Seven Seals Award.”
