Prince William County June Market Statistics

REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) has gathered Prince William County’s most recent market statistics, generated by SmartCharts, an affiliate website of Real Estate Business Intelligence (RBI). The market statistics are gathered through data provided by the Metropolitan Regional Information System (MRIS), which serves as the multiple listing service for Prince William County.

A total of 1,038 homes were sold in June 2017, a substantial increase of 13.7 percent compared to June 2016 closed sales. The number of new pending increased this month by 3.7 percent year-over-year, from 913 pending to 953. New listings also increased steadily this month by 9.3 percent year-over-year, from 1,112 new listings to 1,215. Active listings fell again this month with 1,412 active listings in June, compared to 1,641 in 2016. The median sold price of homes surged in June, increasing 7.4 percent to $365,000 as compared to last year ($339,900).

According to the Second Quarter 2017 Home Sales Report released by the Virginia REALTORS®, the second quarter Virginia residential real estate market continued its rise over prior year benchmarks. April Thomas, CEO of REALTOR® Association of Prince William, states, “Prince William County illustrated strong growth in the residential real estate market this month, especially in closed sales, new listings and overall median price. Within Virginia, historical trends have shown home sales hit a peak in June and begin to taper through the remaining summer months.”
