Provided by Hylton Performing Arts Center

The Hylton Performing Arts Center released its schedule of performances for October 2017 as part of Hylton Presents, Hylton Family Series, and the newly-launched American Roots Series. The month’s diverse programs include a family-friendly play based on a beloved children’s book, an intimate bluegrass and folk double bill, a soulful and brassy jazz concert, a passion-filled dance and music performance, and a recital with commentary featuring classical short pieces for piano. The calendar also includes performances and events presented by the Hylton Center’s Resident Arts Partners and other community organizations.

On October 1, the Hylton Center welcomes New Jersey’s Pushcart Players for a staging of The Velveteen Rabbit: Reborn, a musical adaptation of the popular storybook. Virginia native Annie Stokes and Baltimore’s Charm City Junction perform on a double bill offering an evening of indie-folk and bluegrass music on October 6 in the Gregory Family Theater. Canadian singer and trumpet player Bria Skonberg makes her Hylton Center debut on October 7, alongside Northern Virginia’s Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra. On October 13, Tango Buenos Aires presents a program of emotive classical compositions and sensual dance. Critically-acclaimed pianist and storyteller Jeffrey Siegel returns to the Merchant Hall stage on October 15 with a new Keyboard Conversations® program that features familiar short pieces by Mozart, Chopin, Grieg, Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn, and Gershwin.

A full schedule of October 2017 performances can be found at hyltoncenter.org. Unless otherwise noted, performances will take place in Merchant Hall at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Hylton Performing Arts Center Ticket Office (open Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 a. m.-6:00 p. m.), by calling 888-945-2468, or through the Hylton Center’s website at HyltonCenter.org.
