Provided by Carried to Full Term

Carried to Full Term’s second annual major fundraising event, Life is a Gift, will be held Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 from 6:00 p. m. to 10:00 p. m. at the Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville. Life is a Gift is our major annual fundraising drive and this year’s festivities will include a reception, silent auction, dinner, dancing, speakers and more. All proceeds will benefit Carried to Full Term (CTFT).

CTFT is a nonprofit organization focused on caring for women in need. The goal is to prepare expectant mothers to live independently and self-sufficiently. Since receiving the keys on June 6, 2016, CTFT has admitted twelve mothers. To date, four babies have been born and a fifth baby is expected in December 2017. Executive Director and Founder Frances Robin started this organization in 2009 and left her full time job in 2011 to fully commit to bringing this vision to life. In 2012, she filed her own nonprofit paperwork, as she did not have any financing to hire an attorney. Carried To Full Term become a nonprofit organization in September 2014.

Before taking the full time plunge, Robin volunteered at several pregnancy and rape crisis centers where she witnessed firsthand the struggles of women desperately in need of long-term housing. What started out as a one-bedroom space in a basement has grown into four-bedroom house and is a source of hope and a new start for women.  Robin is currently mentored by Kathleen Wilson, director of the Mary’s Shelter in Fredericksburg, Virginia. “Kathleen has been a constant source of support and encouragement” said, Robin. Wilson is now in her eleventh year as director as the Mary Shelter. Robin shared that she is thrilled to learn from her.

Those who know her would agree that Robin is an exuberant ball of energy. She loves her work. She believes in relationships and makes it a priority to interact with the mothers and volunteers in the home. Robin is a woman of faith. She believes that God has called her to this mission and is committed to being a source of love and encouragement to the mothers in the home. She has made great sacrifices and continues to do so each day. There are times when mothers leave the program prematurely and Robin grieves their early departure. Robin relies on a team of volunteers to help her run the operation. She is grateful for the support she receives from her houseparents and most importantly her mentor team. “I don’t know what I would do without them. They’ve been my champions. My mentor team keeps me updated as they often get updates from previous residents.”

“Carried To Full Term is a safe place for our moms, our community and business friends. We are truly thankful to our church community for all their support. Our sincerest thanks goes out to Reverend Sean with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for believing in our mission. His unwavering support has been a true source of  encouragement. We are truly thankful for all that we’ve accomplished. We are looking forward to our future with our new moms, friends and partners” said Robin.

If you would like to help us, we are asking our family, friends, acquaintances and community businesses to attend our upcoming annual fundraising event. Tickets can be purchased online at the Life is a Gift website. Come out to enjoy a night  with friends and loved ones while supporting this local charity who relies solely on the community for support to keep their doors open.
