Prince William County September Market Statistics

REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) has gathered Prince William County’s most recent market statistics, generated by SmartCharts, an affiliate website of Real Estate Business Intelligence (RBI). The market statistics are gathered through data provided by the Metropolitan Regional Information System (MRIS), which serves as the multiple listing service for Prince William County.

A total of 626 homes were sold in September 2017, a decrease of 6.6 percent compared to September 2016 closed sales. The median sold price of homes also decreased slightly this month, decreasing 0.2 percent to $330,000 as compared to last year ($330,500). New listings decreased as well by 5 percent year-over-year, from 887 new listings to 843. Active listings fell again this month with 1,458 active listings in September, compared to 1,591 in 2016. The number of new pending was the only growth this month by a mere 1.1 percent year-over-year, from 711 pending to 719.

Virginia’s residential real estate market performance in the third quarter was affected by insufficient supplyto meet the needs of eager home seekers, according to the Third Quarter 2017 Home Sales Report released by the Virginia REALTORS® association. “Our snapshot of the Prince William County housing market for last month are keeping with the seasonal trends for our region,” states REALTOR® Association of Prince William CEO April Thomas.
