Food, Friendship, and Learning: A Friendship Feast

Provided by Prince William County Schools (PWCS)

What is Thanksgiving? Leesylvania Elementary School Kindergartners made the connection between Pilgrims in America and the “First Thanksgiving” today. The menu included popcorn, applesauce, carrots, and juice. Each classroom continued the celebration by learning from stories in books and singing songs.

“We have been learning about ‘Past vs. Present,” said Kindergarten Teacher Jennifer Carey. “This allows us to view how things have changed over time with respect to food and clothing – food from the grocery store rather than hunting; the people we share Thanksgiving Day with; and our traditions today.”
