The Hylton Performing Arts Center announced that it received a $15,000 donation from Dominion Energy, Inc. to support the Dominion Energy Veterans Guitar Workshop Series. Part of the Hylton Center’s Veterans and the Arts Initiative, the series offers 10 weeks of free lessons with guitar instructor Glen McCarthy to participants of all skill levels.

The Veterans and the Arts Initiative provides an ideal platform to bring together veterans’ service organizations, community organizations, arts groups, and the local government to engage with Veterans and their families in Northern Virginia. Based on feedback from local veterans and the community, as well as increased financial support, the Veterans and the Arts Initiative is poised to grow exponentially over the next five years.

Positive reactions from participants in the Dominion Energy Veterans Guitar Workshop Series arereflected in testimonials like “it was great to meet the doctor and socialize and make music with fellow Veterans. I’m now committed to becoming a better guitar player and hope to continue with more (of) these events,” as well as “I’m enjoying class and getting what I wanted from it, since I have a background in music…this class has been piecing things together for me.”
