Manassas Park Community Center Tree Lighting Ceremony

By Carole Keily

The Manassas Park Community Center (MPCC) held their Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 6:00 p. m.

It was a clear, cool evening lit by a bright moon. Attendees were greeted by several bonfires on MPCC’s front lawn. Many families from the community attended, and some brought their dogs! There were hayrides, food and baked goods, a bounce house, games for the entire family, and cartoons projected on the side of the building.

The crowd heard a reading from Twas the Night Before Christmas, and the choir from Manassas Park High School led the singing of Christmas carols including 12 Days of Christmas, Feliz Navidad, and Silent Night. At 7:30 p. m., Santa Claus lit the 20-foot live tree, which will stay lit until Jan. 1. Afterwards, families were invited to take pictures with Santa.
