Freedom High School Band Marched in the Governor’s Inaugural Parade

Provided by Prince William County Schools (PWCS)

Freedom High School Band

The Freedom High School “Soul Squad” Marching Eagle Band participated in the Virginia Governor’s Inaugural Parade in Richmond on Saturday, Jan. 13. Only four bands across the commonwealth were selected this year, and Freedom is one of two high school bands selected to participate.

Thomas Thorogood, Freedom High School Band director, explained that they were selected thanks to a community member who submitted a video of the band performing to the Inaugural Committee. Mr. Thorogood added, “The students are super excited about the opportunity to represent Freedom High School, Prince William County Public Schools, and all of Northern Virginia. This is a tremendous honor.”

The only high-stepping marching band in the region, Freedom High School entertained some 4,000 attendees as they performed “Torch of Liberty March,” “Rock With you,” by Michael Jackson, and “Treasure,” by Bruno Mars.

Congratulations to our own Freedom High School Band!
