Wearable Art Contest -American Disposal and Colgan High School

Provided by American Disposal Services, Inc.

School closings often affect more than student learning.  While there is the excitement of a “snow day,” school closing sometimes brings disappointment because a planned activity for students is cancelled.

This disappointment was felt by at least 10 students in Colgan High School’s fashion design program last week.  Due to snow, schools were closed and activities were cancelled for Saturday, Jan. 6, and students from Colgan High were not able to retrieve their wearable  artwork for an art competition at the Center for the Arts.  The category for the art was  ”Wearable Art made from Recycled Materials.”

To help these students  and provide a platform for them to showcase their creations,  American Disposal Services / American Recycling will host a competition reception for these future custodians of the environment at the American Recycling Center, 10220 Residency Road, Manassas, on Friday, Jan. 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m.

The event will feature a Meet and Greet, a fifteen-minute Runway Show and the Awards Ceremony with a three-winner category.
