Provided by BEACON for Adult Literacy
Whether you’re a champion Scrabble® player or it’s been years since you’ve played, come out to BEACON for Adult Literacy’s Scrabble® Scramble fundraiser, April 14, 2018, 6:00—9:00 p. m., at Linton Hall School (9535 Linton Hall Rd., Bristow).
This family-friendly event features two exciting rounds of competitive team play, fun prizes, pizza, and a raffle of items including tickets to a Washington Nationals game, restaurant gift cards, a Kindle Fire, and more. Proceeds from the event benefit BEACON for Adult Literacy, which provides English classes, U.S. Citizenship exam preparation and job readiness skills training for more than 375 low-income adult immigrants in our community each year.
“You don’t have to be a whiz at Scrabble® to participate,” assured Sister Charlotte Lange, who has been involved with BEACON, a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia, for five years.
“You just have to want to laugh and have fun. Scrabble® Scramble is a wonderful example of people coming together to help each other ‘win,’ which is what BEACON for Adult Literacy is all about. My hope is that everyone leaves at the end of the night feeling more connected to BEACON and to the students we serve, who depend so much on our program.”
Registration for a team of four players is $100 and tables are filling up fast. To register, visit beaconliteracy.org or contact Steffany Chaplin at [email protected] or 571-428-2504. Last day to register is April 12, 2018.
