The Dale City “LIGHTNING” Track Club (DCTC) will be hosting the annual Lightning Relay Games event on Saturday, May 19 at Gar-Field Senior High School in Woodbridge. The event highlights track and field events with a focus on relays. The organization has also included individual running and field events, as well as a 200m challenge.
The event is open to clubs, school teams and individual athletes from across the DC Metro area. The event attracts over 600 athletes to compete in one of the largest track and field events in the area. The event will include vendors, entertainment, appearances from county officials and community supporters, including the United States Air Force and Nike.
“Our event and program has grown tremendously and we look forward to hosting teams across the region. We are excited to host our annual meet to give our athletes the opportunity to compete, improve their personal best times and most importantly, have fun and enjoy the sport of track and field,” stated Head Coach Monte Evans.
DCTC introduces kids of all abilities to sprinting, hurdles, distance running and field events such as the shot put, turbo javelin toss, long jump and high jump. DCTC promotes good sportsmanship and nutrition, motivates our athletes to improve their physical conditioning, and instills leadership skills. Over 400 youth athletes participate in DCTC’s training programs.
