The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia has announced plans to celebrate and honor its 40th anniversary at the 2018 Raise the Region Gala on Friday, October 5. The gala will be held at the McLean Hilton.
“Since our inception in 1978, we have directed more than $50 million charitable dollars to people in need across our region and beyond,” said Eileen Ellsworth, President and CEO. “While we continue to work to grow our donor list and asset base, our mission and work has grown to encompass three main tenets which include responding to critical need, seeding innovation, and leading and convening the community,” said Ellsworth. The Community Foundation currently has more than 200 donor advised funds.
In honor of its 40th anniversary, the Community Foundation launched a significant planned giving campaign in October 2017 to help grow The Permanent Fund for Northern Virginia, a permanent community endowment that will help shape our region’s future. This critical endowment will respond to need and seed innovation in Northern Virginia for years to come. Including all current and planned gifts, The Permanent Fund now stands at over $9 million.
