In recognition of the priceless contributions of mothers, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association from Masroor Mosque in Manassas arranged a Mother-Daughter Afternoon Tea. The Women’s Association welcomed all mothers and daughters from the area to this event which centered on the theme “Paradise lies under the feet of the mothers.”
The event was held on May 13 and was attended by more than 50 women of different backgrounds and faiths. The program provided an opportunity for all to learn about status of mothers in Islam. This afternoon tea was a meetup of mothers and daughters, designed for them to socialize and converse about anything they like in a comfortable and friendly environment. Our guests enjoyed the afternoon and shared positive feedback.
A Sunni Muslim mother came with her daughter. “Thank you very much for inviting us. It was amazing; we are so glad to be a part of it. We feel so welcomed and honored here,” she commented.
It was truly heartwarming that families who came from out of state attended this interfaith event. Tariqa Abdul Rashid, a Professor of Sociology, came with her mother, who was visiting from Georgia. She said, “I am so glad that we were able to come. This mosque is beautiful and so welcoming.”
These meetups in turn help promote mutual understanding, love, interfaith harmony, friendships and bring people from various walks of life closer together. We hope that more of our community will take the opportunity to visit a mosque and meet local American Muslims.
