The Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Half Marathon is a unique, local racing experience. The race will begin and end at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow on Sunday, Sept. 30.
Volunteers from Prince William Medical Center’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team will be on site. Providers, nurses and athletic trainers will staff three medical stations along the course and the main medical tent at the start/finish line.
A team of nine medic runners and two bike medics will be moving throughout the course alongside race participants. This mobile team, made up of nurses, athletic trainers, a paramedic and a physician, will be available to guide runners to the closest medical station in the event of an injury, dehydration or other health concern.
“We are proud to sponsor this family-friendly event that brings visitors to our area and gets locals moving,” said Scott Ross, M.D. “It’s a perfect opportunity for our providers and athletic trainers to utilize our skills outside of the exam or operating room.”
The Half Marathon course will take runners along a paved 13.1 mile out-and-back USA Track and Field- certified course. Participants will be led up and down rolling hills, past historic sites and through the Manassas National Battlefield Park before turning back towards the finish line.
