Prince William, VA – Next week the Prince William Chamber of Commerce kicks of the fall term of its popular Business Academy, a series of informative workshops that cover common business issues. Topics include leadership, marketing, human resources, technology and sales. The first session of the fall is “Discover the Leader in You,” with Gerry Peters of ActionCOACH of Old Town Manassas  on Sept. 5. All sessions take place on Thursdays, from 7:45 to 10:00 am at the Chamber Headquarters at 9720 Capital Court, Suite 203 in Manassas.

“Our instructors are also in business. They know you need results and give you steps that can be taken to improve your business right away,” said Chamber COO Debbie Jones. “Attendees tell us the Business Academy gives them an incredible return on their investment.”

Jones added that the Chamber goes through an RFP and vetting process each term, selecting the topics and speakers that best reflect the needs of area businesses. She said the process works, noting that in post-session surveys, 100% of respondents said that they would recommend the Business Academy to others.

“Attending the Business Academy for sales has me excited about selling again,” exclaimed Stephanie MacFarlane of Matrix Computer Consulting of her experience with the Academy.

Another attendee, Pat Heineman of Showcase Portable Exhibits, said, “Best presentation I ever attended. Very valuable information, can’t wait to implement some strategies I learned.”

Class size is limited; Jones recommends early registration.  A full schedule of topics and presenters can be found at pwchamber.org, under Business Resources. Registration is available online or by calling 703-368-6600. The fall term runs Sept. 5 through Nov. 21.

Cost is $25/session for members of the Chamber and $50 for non-members. A $5 per session discount is offered for those who sign up for three or more sessions. To receive this rate, registration must be completed by contacting Mary Leslie at mleslie@pwchamber.org or 703.368.6600.

Business Academy membership rates are made possible through the sponsorship of First Virginia Community Bank and TML-A Xerox Company. Jones said companies interested in sponsoring the Academy, which includes extended visibility at the sessions and in promotional materials, can contact Leslie.
