Just a few weeks ago, one of VAWFSC’s moms gave birth to twin baby boys, a moment that was equal parts miraculous and nerve-wracking.
Born months early and underweight, Baby A and Baby B came into the world needing feeding tubes and round-the-clock care.
But here’s what made all the difference: VAWFSC’s team was there.
In the delivery room, they advocated every step of the way. VAWFSC’s Executive Director and designated VAWFSC maternal health volunteers were with her around the clock. An incredible anesthesiologist kept mom informed and at ease throughout the process. Four medical professionals surrounded each baby during birth, eight pairs of hands working together and nearly 20+ individuals to give these boys the best possible start.
Despite her nerves, mom felt supported, cared for, and confident that her sons were in the best hands. And that’s exactly what your support makes possible.
Today, these tiny fighters are thriving.
They’ve both crossed the 5-pound milestone and are learning to feed on their own. Mom visits multiple times a week, and doctors stay in touch daily with updates.

VAWFSC’s maternal health volunteers and midwife are already preparing to help her establish breastfeeding when the boys come home to the Haymarket house, which is happening in just TWO WEEKS!
Baby A and Baby B, complete with adorable hats labeled with their letters, are proof of what’s possible when mothers have the advocacy and support they deserve.
Will you help be there for the next mom?
Your monthly gift ensures that no mother faces pregnancy, birth, or those critical early weeks alone. Every dollar provides advocacy, medical support, and the kind of care that turns scary moments into miracles.
