Bedrock YOGA will be holding two workshops during March – Yoga for Joint Stability and Exploring the Upper Body. Both workshops will be held at Virginia Dance Center, 9806 Cockrell Road, Manassas, VA 20110.

Yoga for Joint Stability will be held on Sunday, March 6 from 2:00 to 5:00 p. m. This workshop explores commonly hypermobile joints (including knees, the sacroiliac joint, and elbows), identifies safer ranges of motion for joints, and demonstrates techniques for enhancing the stability around the joint in question. Appropriate for students who have taken at least one session of yoga 1/2 and yoga teachers working with students who have hypermobile joint issues.

Erin Scherger, E-RYT 200, will lead this workshop. She completed the Health Advantage Yoga Center Teacher Training Program in 2010 and qualified as an Elise Browning Miller Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer in 2012. PWL Drawing on her past experiences as a competitive figure-skater and childbirth educator, Erin enjoys light-heartedly encouraging others to tune in, find their inner strength, and move mindfully.

Exploring the Upper Body will be held on Sunday, March 20 from 1:00 to 3:00 p. m. During this workshop we will work to create more openness in the upper body and play with different postures, taking the time to note how this openness enhances the spine’s flexibility and creates a sense of lightness in the upper body. Shernita Parker, RYT 200, will lead the workshop. She has practiced yoga since 2001 and received her training from The Health Advantage Yoga Center in 2008. She teaches beginner, mixed level and flow style classes. For Shernita, yoga’s focus on uniting the mind, body, and spirit provide a grounding to help one thrive in all areas of their life.
