Bedrock YOGA will offer “Befriend Your Backbends” workshop on Saturday, August 12, from 3:00-5:00 p. m.
Backbending postures are beneficial for maintaining a healthy spine; they ask us to move counter to our common postural positions while texting, driving, and working at our desks. They can also be physiologically and emotionally intense, causing us to work less compassionately with our bodies, leading to feelings of discomfort rather than ease. Making our way through foundational backbends and preparation poses, we will investigate ways to allow these postures and their variations to feel more accessible, supportive, and spacious. For students who have completed one session of Yoga 2 and up. To register, see bedrockyoga.net/workshops.html. 2 CEUs.
The class will be led by Erin Scherger (E-RYT 200). Erin completed the Health Advantage Yoga Center Teacher Training Program in 2010, qualified as an Elise Browning Miller Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer in 2012, and continues to broaden her own studies. Drawing on her past experiences as a competitive figure-skater and childbirth educator, Erin enjoys light-heartedly encouraging others to tune in, find their inner strength, and move mindfully.
“Befriend Your Backbends” will be held at the bedrock YOGA studio, 9415 Main Street, Manassas, VA 20110, next to Philadelphia Tavern and above Social Butterfly.
