The Green Schools National Network and the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) have recognized Marumsco Hills Elementary School as a national winner in the “Best of Green Schools” class of 2018.

This year, the Best of Green Schools Awards recognized eleven individuals, institutions and projects that represent the best environmental efforts in schools around the country and highlight the national leaders and innovators in school sustainability. According to the Green Schools National Network and the USGBC, since forming a student-led Green Team, the culture at Marumsco Hills has transformed into one that values sustainability, with students actively collaborating with staff and administrators to implement green programs.

The Green Team work is led by teachers Kevin Steward and Brandon Hunt. The school was recognized for its sustainability efforts during the national Green Schools Conference and Expo held this spring.
