For many weeks, Birmingham Green has entured a day-to-day battle with COVID-19. Now, they are taking a much needed breath of fresh air as the senior community celebrates a major milestone.
Birmingham Green recently celebrated its 130th individual recovery from the virus. This number includes 56 total staff members, 59 residents from its Nursing Home, and 15 Willow Oaks Assisted Living residents.
Denise Chadwick Wright is CEO of Birmingham Green. Chadwick Wright said, “We know this fight isn’t over, but we are all cautiously optimistic that it is finally headed in a better direction. We haven’t experienced a new positive case in 26 days and we are taking every precaution to ensure that trend continues.”
Birmingham Green’s 130th COVID-19 recovery coincides with a week of daily events to celebrate National Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) Week. Staff members received gift cards from The New City Fellowship Church, special snacks, an ice cream social, and gift baskets.
“Our CNAs do so much to support both our residents and our staff …[W]e couldn’t have endured this pandemic without their compassion and work ethic,” Chadwick Wright said. “This COVID-19 pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges for our CNAs as they cared for our extremely vulnerable resident population. They undertook a heroic task on the front lines of this pandemic… I offer my deepest gratitude for their service.”
