Boxes of Basics, a Northern Virginia nonprofit that provides children in need with personalized seasonal wardrobes and essential items, will deliver nearly 200 of the 390 total Boxes of Basics to the Georgetown South community on Wednesday at 10 a.m. The remaining boxes will be delivered over the next two weeks, ensuring that every child in Georgetown South receives a complete Box of Basics.
Each child will receive a thoughtfully curated box containing:
- School and play clothes
- A cozy sweatshirt
- Pajamas
- A winter coat, hat, and mittens
- A brand-new pair of sneakers
- Socks and underwear
- An age-appropriate book
- A dental hygiene kit
Supporting the effort is MG Movers, who are generously donating their time, trucks, and talent to transport the Boxes of Basics from the organization’s warehouse to the Georgetown South Community Center.
“These boxes are more than clothing—they provide dignity, comfort, and confidence for every child we serve,” said Sarah Tyndall, Founder and Executive Director of Boxes of Basics. “We are deeply grateful to MG Movers for their partnership and support. Their generosity helps ensure these boxes reach families safely and efficiently. We are honored to walk alongside the Georgetown South community and ensure every child receives the essentials they deserve.”
The distribution is part of Boxes of Basics’ ongoing initiative to meet critical needs for families throughout Northern Virginia. With the help of volunteers, staff, and community partners, the first half of the boxes will be delivered on Wednesday, with the remaining boxes scheduled for delivery in the coming weeks.
