Cadet Wins First Place in Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution Competition

Yashvir Sabharwal, a Junior at Battlefield High School, winner of the Colonel William Grayson Chapter (SAR) Enhanced Junior Reserved Officer Training Corps (JROTC) competition, took first place at the statewide Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution competition held in Richmond on Feb. 10, 2024. Cadet Sabharwal will now advance to the National competition in May.Cadets nominated for this competition are judged on their leadership, performance in JROTC, academics and extracurricular activities, and a personally composed essay on the topic “How JROTC has prepared me to be a better citizen of the United States of America.”Thus far in the competitions, Cadet Sabharwal has won a 1st place Bronze Medallion, 1st place Silver Medallion and scholarship checks totaling $1,100.00. Cadet Sabharwal is the son of Puneet and Simrata Sodhi Sabharwal of Bristow.The Colonel William Grayson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution serves Prince William County and western Fairfax County. Membership in the Sons of the American Revolution is open to the lineal descendant of a Revolutionary War soldier, sailor or Patriot. This includes persons who not only fought in the military or militia, but who also may have provided supplies, medical aid, signed oaths of Faith and Fidelity and similar acts.
