Help celebrate our nation’s birthday!

Plans are already in the works for July 4 celebrations and Historic Manassas, Inc. needs volunteers age 16+ to support Celebrate America along with the Stars & Stripes Rooftop Picnic in Old Town Manassas.  Three shifts are available:  11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 3  to 7p.m. and 7 to 11 p.m.  You’ll have fun supporting both events which will include kid-friendly and family-friendly activities, and of course, you get a magnificent view of the fireworks as we celebrate our nation’s independence!  Please visit to sign up, email to learn more.

It’s Summer, but hunger doesn’t care!

Summer Conversation Class Hosts Needed

BEACON for Adult Literacy urgently needs volunteers age 18+ to host their Summer Conversation Classes July 8 to 24.  Sessions will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30 to 11 a.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m.  It’s all done online, so you can relax in air-conditioned comfort and help students improve their English skills at the same time!  BEACON is also recruiting volunteers for their next ESOL session which begins in mid-August!  Online volunteer information sessions are being held; please visit to sign up.  Please email or call 571.531.5838 to learn more.

Looking for a summer volunteer opportunity?

Consider helping the staff at Boxes of Basics!  They’re hosting Summer Drop-In Volunteering for volunteers age 18+ on Mondays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Aug. 12.  Stop in to lend a hand as you help sort and organize their warehouse (9239 Mike Garcia Drive, Manassas) in preparation for the next school year.  You’ll feel fantastic as you help this organization plan to meet the needs of children facing clothing insecurity!  Please email for more information.

Brain Injury Services (BIS) needs volunteers to be PALS

Brain Injury Services needs volunteers to be PALS (Providing a Link for Survivors) for survivors of brain injury.  This is a one-to-one friendship program for brain injury survivors; the program connects BIS clients with volunteers who can help them socialize in the community and rebuild social skills through friendship.  Once a month outings for coffee, walks, chess, lunch, etc. can help a client get their life back on track following such a traumatic occurrence!  Please visit for more information; email to learn how you can help.

Dog Lovers!

You can volunteer to raise a puppy and be a part of something truly life changing!  The wonderful staff at Canine Companions needs Prince William area volunteers to be Puppy Raisers which supports this agency’s mission of providing service dogs to people with disabilities.  It’s a family-friendly opportunity, and you’ll feel great as you help train and prepare a puppy for a future career as a service dog for their clients to live with greater independence!  Please visit for more information.  Upcoming virtual volunteer information sessions will be held June 25 and July 11 so you can learn more.  Please email for more information.

Educate America, Inc.

Educate America, Inc, a nonprofit startup, is seeking volunteers ages 18+ to assist with providing after-school tutoring and mentoring services within five (5) to ten (10) Prince William County Public Schools during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 school year.  Volunteer with Educate America and make a difference in the lives of underserved youth!  Your time and expertise can positively impact the academic success and personal development of our youth—contributing to brighter futures for the next generation.  Volunteers will need to have background and CPS checks completed by July 15, 2024.  Please join them as a volunteer, tutor, mentor, or community partner by completing and submitting the online application form(s) at  Questions?  Please email

 Dale City ES Trails & Outdoor Classroom Repair Project

Keep Prince William Beautiful and Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition (PWTSC) is holding the next part of the Dale City ES Trails & Outdoor Classroom Repair Project July 20, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 14450 Brook Drive, Woodbridge.  No experience necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to help!  Be prepared to lift and haul heavy bags of gravel down the trail and a flight of stairs.  Please wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes.  You’ll feel great as you help make a difference in our community together!  Please visit to sign up; email for more information.
