Save the Date!  Keep Prince William Beautiful is holding a Community Cleanup Feb. 25, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dale City Farmers Market lot, 14090 Gemini Way, Dale City.  The cleanup will focus on removing trash from the commuter parking lot where the market is held weekly.  Volunteers age 18+ welcome, volunteers under 18 must volunteer with an adult.  Rain Date March 4.  You’ll enjoy being out in the fresh air with family/friends as you help clean up this lot!  Please visit bit.ly/3Hcmokw to sign up; email abrown@kpwb.org to learn more.

BEACON for English Language & Literacy

BEACON for English Language & Literacy is recruiting Volunteer Teachers, Tutors and Substitutes for their spring classes, March 20 to June 8.  Volunteers are provided with a formal textbook curriculum that incorporates listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.  Volunteers use the textbook to develop a lesson plan that provides additional opportunities for practice that emphasizes conversation practice and student engagement.  You’ll feel great as you help adults gain the confidence and learn the language skills needed to get a job, communicate with their children’s teachers, talk with their doctor, or pursue higher education! Birthright of Woodbridge

Birthright of Woodbridge is looking for volunteers to offer loving, confidential, non-judgmental support to those who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant.  Many volunteer opportunities are available, full training and mentorship is provided for volunteers so you can best help the women who need you!  Volunteers are needed both mornings and afternoons.  Please email woodbridge@birthright.org or call 703.583.1178 for more information.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

You can make a difference in the life of a child! Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) needs volunteers age 21+ who care about children growing up in a safe, permanent and loving home. The staff will hold their next Virtual Information Sessions on March 8, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., and a second session on March 22, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Learn how you can help protect abused and neglected children in your community by becoming a volunteer advocate. Catholic Charities’ Virginia Refugee Student Achievement Program (VRSAP)

Catholic Charities’ Virginia Refugee Student Achievement Program (VRSAP) needs volunteers to help tutor students on an ongoing basis.  This program supports children for up to five years after arrival and assists refugee students in target areas so that they will be successful in school.  Tutors assist children with tutoring, school supplies, computers, referrals for counseling, academic services, testing, and other needs.  Please visit bit.ly/3uBxVnP to sign up.  Please email LeaAnn.Gross@ccda.net to learn more.

Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia

Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia (GOTR NOVA) is looking for volunteers age 16+ to coach a girls’ running team at Bayvue Apartments in Woodbridge during their upcoming season, March 6 to May 21.  This team practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:00 to 6:15 p.m.  Coaches are asked to commit for the 10-week season, with a few additional hours required for Coach Training and the GOTR NOVA season-ending 5K celebration.  You’ll feel great as you transform and empower the lives of these young girls!  Please visit bit.ly/3I5W2B7 for details and registration, email niriarte@gotrnova.org to learn more.

Grace United Methodist Church needs ESL Teachers

The staff at Grace United Methodist Church needs volunteers to be Teachers and Helpers for their next session of English as a Second Language (ESL), April 4 to June 8.  Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the church, 9750 Wellington Road, Manassas.  You’ll feel wonderful as you help learners improve their English reading, writing and speaking skills!  Please email esl@umcgrace.org to learn how you can make a difference.

Historic Dumfries

*Virtual Opportunity* Historic Dumfries is seeking an experienced volunteer to help with submitting grants to make The Lee Lansing Research Library more accessible, and to help promote the upcoming 250th commemoration of local history and Revolutionary War history.  Your help would directly impact Historic Dumfries as your advice will help the Executive Director prepare to submit two very impactful grants for this small community!  Please email info@historicdumfriesva.org for more information.

Haul out your brooms and dust rags!  Historic Dumfries also needs someone age 18+ to help clean The Weems-Botts Museum!  This unique opportunity gives participants a chance to work within the historic house as they carefully vacuum, clean, and help maintain a safe and dust-free setting for their beautiful community collections.  The Executive Director will work with participants and will provide training along with all needed materials.  You’ll feel great as you help maintain historic structures and artifacts ranging from the 1700s-1900s!  Please email info@historicdumfriesva.org to learn more.

8th Annual Rise Against Hunger

Help fight hunger both locally and internationally!  Lutheran Church of the Covenant and Woodbridge Rotary Club are hosting the 8th Annual Rise Against Hunger packaging event March 18, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Neabsco Elementary School, 3800 Cordell Avenue, Woodbridge.  Lots of volunteers are needed to help set up, pack meals and clean up – the goal is to package 30,000 meals.  All ages welcome!  Volunteers are also asked to bring non-perishable foods that day for the families at Neabsco Elementary.  Can’t make this event?  You can also donate funds online to cover the costs of ingredients; the goal is $12,000.  Please visit bit.ly/3JYkln6 to sign up and donate.

NVFS Strikes for Stronger Families Bowl-a-Thon

Mark Your Calendars! After a two-year hiatus, the NVFS Strikes for Stronger Families Bowl-a-Thon is returning on March 18! This in-person event will be held at Bowl America Bull Run, 10641 Balls Ford Road, Manassas; funds raised will support the SERVE campus.
