ACTS Needs Donation Drivers

The folks at ACTS Hunger Prevention Center have an urgent need for Donation Drivers Wednesdays through Sundays.  Drivers can use an ACTS van or their own vehicle for food pickups.  There’s a variety of places to choose from, and you’ll feel great as you deliver food which will help food insecure families in our community!  Please contact Shirley at 703.441.8606, ext. 288 or to learn more.

Community Feeding Taskforce Food Helpline

You can help fight hunger!  The Community Feeding Taskforce Food Helpline urgently needs Spanish speaking volunteers who can assist with answering calls to the Helpline on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Volunteers will answer calls from those in need of food, redirect callers to a food pantry closest to where they live and arrange home deliveries for shutins.  Training is provided; however, volunteers will work from home and must have their own computer and Internet access.  It’s a flexible schedule and call volume is low enough someone can do this while working from home.  Please visit for more information and click on the Respond button to sign up.

Delta Sigma Theta’s MLK Oratorical Competition

Mark your calendars!  The members of Delta Sigma Theta are holding their annual MLK Oratorical Competition virtually on Jan. 17 at 11:00 a.m. on their You Tube channel, PWCAC-DST-MEDIA.  It’s free, so sign on to watch middle and high school students speak on this year’s theme, “Beyond Dreams and Mountains:  Her Voice – Her Mission.”  Please visit for more information; email to learn more.

Delta Sigma Theta’s MLK Day of Service

Delta Sigma Theta will also hold a MLK Day of Service on Jan. 17 following the oratorical program, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Members will accept donations of new/gently used winter coats, blankets, sleeping bags, tarps, hats, gloves, socks, and non-perishable food to benefit clients of Streetlight Community Ministries Outreach.  Collection sites are Harris Teeter (Hastings Market Place) 10060 Market Circle, Manassas and Dumfries Commuter Lot, Route 234/Route 1, Dumfries.  Please email if you have any questions.

General Heiser Boys & Girls Club Needs Coaches

Do you enjoy coaching kids’ sports?  General Heiser Boys & Girls Club in Dumfries needs volunteer Volleyball and Basketball Coaches age 18+ for the upcoming spring season, early March through mid-June.  Basketball teams run Kindergarten and through high school; volleyball teams run third grade through high school.  Teams meet two evenings a week for practices and/or games; some Saturdays may also be needed.  You’ll feel great as you coach young sports enthusiasts and help them learn about teamwork!  Please visit for details and click on the Respond button to sign up. Historic Manassas, Inc. Souper Bowl 2022

Teens, if you need service hours, we’ve got a fun opportunity for you!  Historic Manassas, Inc. is hosting Souper Bowl 2022 on Feb. 4, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and volunteers age 16+ are needed as Souper Bowl Attendants/Servers.  You’ll have fun ladling out soup at this popular event which attracts up to 500 attendees!  Please visit to sign up.  Questions?  Email

Manassas Hunger and Homeless Outreach

Help fight hunger virtually!  Manassas Hunger and Homeless Outreach conducts a Virtual Food Pantry which provides funds to local food pantries at First Baptist Church in Manassas, Manassas Mobile Park Food Pantry and George Mason MAP Clinic.  Funds raised also lets the agency provide grocery cards to those experiencing hunger and homelessness in Manassas.  You can participate by visiting  Questions?  Please email to learn more.

Medical Reserve Corps

Support your local health department and your community during a public health emergency!  Volunteers are needed to support several missions, including public health education and outreach, disease investigation, vaccine clinics, and more!  Medical experience is not required; they have roles for everyone!  Bilingual volunteers are especially needed.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age, complete minimum training, and pass a state background check to serve.  Please fill out an application at  Questions?  Please email Amy at for more information.

PWC Dogs

Dog lovers, we’ve got a great opportunity for you!  PWC Dogs is looking for volunteers age 18+ to help with the ongoing management and support of the K9 Gunner Memorial Park in Woodbridge.  Volunteers meet monthly to discuss dog park business, as well as support and staff in-person and virtual fundraising/friend-raising events.  Dog ownership experience helpful but not required.  You’ll feel great as you help promote this dog-friendly park in our community!  Please visit for more details.
