Capital Caring,  the mid-Atlantic’s largest nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider, hosted a special benefit concert on Monday, May 1, featuring Grammy Award-winner Olivia Newton-John, Grammy nominee Beth Nielsen Chapman, and SOCAN Award-winner Amy Sky. The concert kicked off Capital Caring’s 40th anniversary celebration and was held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. More than 300 individuals attended the event, helping Capital Caring raise more than $100,000 to support its hospice and palliative care programs in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Concert attendees learned about the singers’ personal connections to – and support of – hospice care, as each artist described the loss of loved ones and their own grief journeys. The 11-song LIV ON album ( is the reflection of the performers’ feelings of hope, remembrance and joy.

“I am thrilled that Olivia, Beth, and Amy were able to join us as part of our anniversary celebration and were willing to share their beautiful words and voices with our friends,” remarked Malene Davis, Capital Caring’s President and CEO. “As a hospice provider, Capital Caring’s mission is to simply improve care for those facing advanced illness, but we also provide support and counseling to family members facing the loss of their loved ones. It is my hope that the concert was especially meaningful to those who might be seeking inspiration to ‘live on’ and better understand their ‘new normal’ in a safe and caring environment.”

The LIV ON performance also coincided with the 10th Annual “Hospice Comes to Washington” event. “Hospice Comes to Washington” offers leading experts in advanced illness care an opportunity to come together and draw attention to the vital need for easier access to quality patient-centered advanced illness care throughout the country.

The inaugural “Women of Compassion” brunch was held on May 2 at the home of Alan Zuccari of Hamilton Insurance Agency, and his wife, Lisa. Malene Davis awarded Olivia Newton-John, Beth Nielsen Chapman, and Amy Sky the Women of Compassion Award in recognition of their contributions to supporting individuals confronting the loss of a loved one. Proceeds from the brunch will support Capital Caring’s children’s bereavement programs.

Capital Caring is grateful to all those who supported the LIV ON concert and the Women of Compassion brunch. Corporate sponsors include: mumms® Software, Wise Hospice Options, Hamilton Insurance Agency, Campion Asset Management, and Prestige Healthcare Resources, Inc.
