More than 2,000 PWCS middle school students made career day at Pfitzner Stadium lively and loud. Hot dogs! Home runs! The roar of the crowd on a stolen base! There really was a lesson behind all the fun and food.
The annual event at Pfitzner Stadium for PWCS middle schoolers was more than a day to enjoy a baseball game. Students heard from experts that the game on the field is only one part of the business of baseball. Potomac Nationals employees told students there are hundreds of jobs behind the scenes critical to the success of a minor league club.
Students learned the first lesson for success is to work hard and get an education. Whatever their interest, there is a way to tie it into sports. There are jobs in fitness training, customer sales and service, accounting, public relations, sports management, coaching, data analysis, and reporting, to name a few.
This field trip was fully funded by SPARK, the Education Foundation for PWCS, and the Potomac Nationals.
