Since the 1990s, the City of Manassas has been hosting Celebrate America, the largest fireworks event in Northern Virginia.  Last year, the City of Manassas asked Historic Manassas, Inc., to explore funding opportunities for the event.  As a creative option, Historic Manassas, Inc. has created a rooftop experience for those who wish to purchase tickets.  This experience includes front row viewing of the Celebrate America fireworks display, a catered dinner, drinks, a photo both, games and much more from 5:00 to 10:00 p. m.  The Rooftop Party is being held on top of the City’s parking garage, which offers an unimpeded view of the entire City of Manassas.  This is a pilot year for this event and tickets are limited.   For more information or tickets, visit visitmanassas.org.
“The City of Manassas is proud to be the host of the largest July 4th fireworks display in Northern Virginia.  This event has been supported for many years by private donations and we need to diversify our donor base to continue offering this free family-friendly event,” said City Manager W. Patrick Pate.  “We hope the concept of a bird’s eye view of the celebration will encourage local businesses to sponsor the fireworks display so we can continue to promote the Celebrate America event as one of the best in the Greater Manassas region.”
Many have asked why the parking garage is closed to vehicle traffic during Celebrate America.  It is to ensure pedestrian safety as the streets in that area are filled with families watching the fireworks.  In previous years, the City’s Emergency Operations Center for public safety was held on a floor of the garage.  This year, however, it has been moved for easier communication as the lower floors of the garage echo, making it hard to hear for staff.
Celebrate America includes pie baking contests, watermelon eating contests and the best of Americana in one event.  Children’s rides begin at 3:00 p. m. and the fireworks show begins at 9:15 p. m.  The City loves pets, but loud noises can cause them distress and anxiety.  Please leave them at home during this event.
