CFH, Inc. a 43-year-old Northern Virginia nonprofit, has announced the 5th Annual CFH 5K Run-Walk for Affordable Housing, the only annual fundraiser to raise revenue for the group’s continuum of housing-based programs. The 5k race will be held in-person at Occoquan Regional Park at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, thereby launching a virtual run-walk that will extend through Nov. 6, with registrants choosing their own course and time to participate. Interested participants can find more information and register by Oct. 20 at cfhva.org.
This annual event is held in honor of the late Father Gerard Creedon, who inspired a group of his parishioners to establish CFH in 1979 and guided the group to seek out ways to assist the community until his passing in 2017. In addition to purchasing, adding improvements and amenities and bringing programs for children and families to the East End Mobile Home Park in Manassas, CFH conducts a variety of programs related to food assistance, homeownership, security deposit and senior citizen assistance. Registration starts at just $20 for youth runners and $40 for adults; details can be found at cfhva.org/2022-cfh-5k/.
“We are excited to return to a live race format this year but we’re also excited to have individuals and families from all over come together and participate online,” said CFH Executive Director George Davies. “Holding fundraising events has been challenging during the past few years, but we are fortunate to be in an area filled with energy and enthusiasm for helping others,” he continued.
Based in Dumfries, CFH has worked more than four decades to help individuals and families along a path of self- sufficiency, providing assistance to individuals and families all along the continuum of housing needs. The CFH board of directors represents a diverse group of individuals who provide expertise in business, development, architecture, financial services and real estate.
