The Prince William Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Jim Elliott, issued the following statement following a vote to initiate an amendment to Prince William County’s Comprehensive Plan to include congestion mitigation solutions for Route 28:

“We are glad to see the Board of County Supervisors working towards alleviating congestion on Route 28. Transportation infrastructure weighs heavily on the minds of businesses in our region and plays a significant role in economic development. Moving forward, we hope that the Board of County Supervisors and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, led by Chairman Marty Nohe, will continue this momentum and work to secure the necessary funding for whichever project is selected.”

A public meeting about the Route 28 Corridor Feasibility Study will be held on Thursday, September 7 at the Manassas Park Community Center, 99 Adams Street, Manassas Park.

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, NVTA, is hosting the meeting to discuss alternative alignments for Prince William County’s portion of the road. The session will be held from 6:30 – 8:00 p. m., with a presentation starting at 7:00 p. m. More information is available at Route28study.com.
