2017 CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA FOR NOMINATIONS

BUSINESSES MAY SELF-NOMINATE OR MAY BE NOMINATED BY CLIENTS/FELLOW MEMBERS

BUSINESS AWARD CATEGORIES

(Winners to be announced at the Business Awards Dinner on Tuesday, February 28, 2017—All Nominees will also be honored at that time)

All business award nominees should meet the following requirements:

1. To be recognized nominee must be a Chamber member in good standing

2. Must be a viable, ongoing business which has maintained stability over its business life

3. Excellent reputation in the community

4. Nomination received by Wednesday, December 21, 2016

* Excellence in Small Business (1-10 Employees)

Awarded to a member business that displays overall outstanding contributions to the Chamber and/or to the business community—please list contributions, business growth, success story or something they’re most proud of on nomination form

* Business Excellence (11 + Employees)

Awarded to a member business of at least 11 employees or more that displayed overall outstanding contributions to the Chamber and/or to the business community—please list contributions, business growth, success story or something they’re most proud of on nomination form

* Emerging Business

Awarded to a business that has been in business at least one and no more than two years, and has made outstanding contributions to the Chamber and local community. The number of employees is not significant.

* Innovative Practice/Partnership of the Year

Awarded to a member business (or government entity) which has demonstrated outstanding vision and groundbreaking solutions in the last year. May also be awarded for the establishment of a unique partnership resulting in an innovative program or service and green practices.

* Community Outreach Award

Awarded to a for-profit member business in recognition for their outstanding support of the community, and not-for-profit organizations, through volunteer hours, in-kind goods and services, philanthropic support and corporate policy that stipulates and encourages community involvement.

2017 Industry Awards

* Government Contractor of the Year

Awarded to a member business that displays outstanding contributions in the area of Federal, State or Local Government Contracting; contributions to the local community may be considered—please list contributions on nomination form

* Outstanding Professional Service Award

Awarded to a member business that displayed outstanding professional service to their clients and the community. Please include a testimonial from a client.

* Tech Company of the Year

Awarded to the member business that displayed outstanding contributions in the area of science, technology or STEM education; contributions to the local community may be considered—please list contributions on nomination form

AGNES L. COLGAN COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS

(Winners to be announced at the Agnes Colgan Event on April 4, 2017—All Nominees will also be honored at that time)

* Agnes L. Colgan Community Service Awards

Awarded to two not-for-profit organizations making a demonstrable positive contribution to the quality of life in the Greater Prince William region. Each award is accompanied by a check for $1,000 to continue the winners work. May apply in one of two categories, Arts & Education or Health & Human Services.
