The readers have spoken. InsideNoVa’s 2018 Best of Prince William contest generated over 70,000 votes from more than 11,000 different voters in over 200 categories and Chinn Park Regional Library was chosen as this year’s “Best” Library.
Chinn Park Regional Library, located in Woodbridge, was the first regional library built in Prince William County. Chinn Park consistently has the highest circulation numbers of all the full service libraries and is the most visited library in the county. On average, Chinn Park Regional Library has over 25,000 visits per month and offers over 800 programs annually. And – it’s likely not a coincidence that the “best” library is also home to the famous Squirt, a 15-year-old turtle!
“We are so proud of Chinn Park and its staff for the exceptional service it provides to members of our community,” comments Deborah Wright, Prince William Public Library System (PWPLS) Library Director. “Through its programs, resources such as free Wi-Fi and 32 public-access computers, welcoming spaces, and the Management and Government Information Center, a specialized service available exclusively at Chinn Park, there’s something for everyone.”
While it’s no wonder the Chinn Park Regional Library has been recognized for its contribution and standing in the community, the branch is part of a larger system comprised of 11 branches total throughout Prince William County with a mission to provide residents with exceptional service, providing lifelong enrichment across both traditional and virtual environments.
This past fiscal year, library facilities were visited over 1.6 million times and more than 3.1 items were borrowed. The PWPLS also saw an increase in its digital checkouts from the previous fiscal year. More residents visited the PWPLS library website, pwcgov.org/library, and its social media accounts over the last fiscal year to get news, updates, and information about the libraries, their programs, and services. There was an increase in programs for all ages at each of the branches, offering more opportunities for residents to gather at their local branch.
Chinn Park Regional Library is now amongst those that now have the right to proudly display the “Best of Prince William 2018” logo. Thanks to everyone who voted Chinn Park Regional Library for this year’s “Best of Prince William!”
