City of Manassas, VA . . . On Wednesday, Aug. 21 the City of Manassas Police and Fire and Rescue Departments will participate in Osbourn High School’s Freshman Academy Rising Stars program during Career Day. Demonstrations begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Osbourn High School parking lot,
Students will watch Fire and Rescue personnel use the ladder truck, use a special hydraulic rescue tool to remove the top of a car, and get hands-on experience using a fire extinguisher.
City of Manassas Police personnel will demonstrate training exercises with K-9 officers and their K-9 partners, motor officers demonstrating driving skills and a SWAT team exercise.
The Osbourn High School Freshman Academy Rising Stars is a three-day summer enrichment program developed by MikeDufrene, assistant principal in charge of Freshman Academy, to prepare incoming freshmen for the upcoming challenges of high school. More than 130 students participated in last year’s program.
