On Nov. 3, 2020 City Council Member Michelle Davis-Younger was elected Mayor of the City of Manassas. Her term will begin in January 2021. As a result, her current seat on City Council will be vacant when she becomes Mayor.

City Council is seeking applicants to fill this City Council vacancy on an interim basis until a special election is held, most likely in November 2021. The person elected at the November 2021 special election will serve until Dec. 31, 2022, the end of Ms. Davis-Younger’s Council term.

Candidates interested in serving on City Council until the special election is held can apply at manassasva.gov/joincc until Nov. 29, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. The City Council position entails:

  • Attendance at two  regular City Council meetings each month, held on the second and fourth Mondays at 5:30 p.m.
  • Attendance at up to three City Council Work Sessions each month, held on the second Wednesday, third Monday, and fourth Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
  • Special meetings, as needed.
  • A Council Member may also be appointed to serve on other Boards, Committees, or Commissions and/or Regional Boards.
