The deadlines are quickly approaching for two grant cycles: The Ross-Roberts Fund for the Arts and The Micron Opportunity Fund.
Next week is our annual webinar to launch the Community Investment Funds grant cycle, on Jan. 9. This is our largest grants pool available to support critical need throughout the region. Ross-Roberts Fund for the Arts

The Ross-Roberts Fund for the Arts was established in 2018 to celebrate, promote and support the arts in Northern Virginia. Its goals are to build a world class, dynamic, vibrant arts and culture sector, increase understanding of the central and critical role of the arts in healthy communities, and activate support for the arts in our region.
The Community Foundation will consider applications for capacity building grants (fundraising, board governance, marketing, etc.) to organizations that focus on performing and visual arts. Three grants of $20,000 each ($10,000/year for two years) will be awarded.

Micron Opportunity Fund

The Micron Opportunity Fund, established this year, supports nonprofits and public school systems in Northern Virginia that provide education, skills acquisition, and mentoring for underrepresented and under-funded student populations in the fields of engineering, technology, and overall STEM.
The Community Foundation will offer three grants of $5000 each and 1 grant of $4000, to be used during the calendar year 2020. Grants will require a 1:1 match of grant funds from the nonprofits and school systems who apply.

Our Children Fund

The Our Children Fund was created to provide financial assistance for “normalizing” items and experiences to children in the Fairfax County foster care system.

Examples of items that can be funded include afterschool activities, camps, and sports fees. Other items to be considered include dental and health services.

The Our Children Fund is available to Foster Care children in Fairfax County between the ages of birth and 17 years and young adults between the ages of 18 and 21 if permanency (return home, relative placement, or adoption) is not achieved and addresses their otherwise unmet medical, social, emotional, and education needs.

Community Investment Funds

The Community Investment Funds are the signature grant cycle managed by the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. Funds are invested in organizations serving the Northern Virginia community in the areas of child and youth development, education, health, mental health and aging, military personnel and their families, and poverty relief.
