Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (VA-10) released the following statement after Congressman Robert Hurt (VA-5) announced his retirement from Congress at the end of his term:

“Congressman Robert Hurt is a gentleman, statesman, constitutional scholar, and most important of all a true friend to the Commonwealth of Virginia.  I am honored to call him my friend.   I have had the pleasure to serve with him in both Congress and the Virginia General Assembly where I have looked for his guidance and legislated alongside him. PWL I am saddened by his announcement to retire today, but I know he will grow and prosper in his next steps of life.  I look forward to continue to work with Robert over the course of the next year and I offer my best to Robert, his wife Kathy, and their three sons as they embark on a new chapter in their lives. I know his service to the 5th District and the Commonwealth is greatly appreciated and will be sorely missed.”
